WHAT IS LASER RESURFACING?

Laser resurfacing involves the use of a laser to remove skin so new skin can form in its place. This is a promising procedure due to the penetration depth into the skin, which is easily controlled with the laser. Small areas can take minutes while larger areas may take over an hour.
Currently there are two types of laser resurfacing available- CO2 laser and the erbium (YAG) laser. It is recommended that you consult your doctor or skin practitioner about which laser is suitable for your specific condition.
People with darker skin should be aware that laser resurfacing may cause uneven skin tones.

RECOVERY TIME

Redness and swelling are typical of what is expected following treatment. The redness can last for several weeks, and your skin may appear pinkish for months after. A topical treatment may be provided by your doctor to assist in the healing process.
